Appreciation Dinner 2006
On January 12, 2006 The Oakdale Sunrise Rotary Club presented the Third Annual Public Service Appreciation Dinner.  This gala evening celebrated the work of the Police, Fire, Emergency Medical and other responders to in public safety.  Held at the brand new Gene Bianchi Community Center, this year was the first the Club opened the doors to the general public.

Awards were presented to the Policeman of the Year, The Fireman of the Year, The Emergency Medical Technician of the Year, as well as awards to other sworn and non-sworn personnel.  In attendance to present were Oakdale Mayor Pat Kuhn, Stanislaus County Supervisor Bill O'Brien, Assemblyman Dave Cogdill, and Krista Benn, District Representative of State Senator Chuck Poochigian.  In addition, Chief Gary Hampton, Oakdale Police Department, Chief David Wilkinson, Oakdale Fire Department, Chief Rob Hoyer, Oakdale Rural Fire Department, and John Friel, CEO Oak Valley Community Hospital were award presenters to their respective departments.

Dinner was provided by Steve Grgrish Catering of Oakdale, strolling musical entertainment was provided by Good Time Harmony, a local Barbershop Quartet.  Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Past President Mark Thomas, and Oakdale Sunrise Rotarian Pastor Tony Keoman gave the invocation.   Oakdale Sunrise Rotary sponsored Interact Club of Oakdale High School were our servers.  

Decorating, room design, setup and takedown was provided by members, spouses and family of the Oakdale Sunrise Rotary.  Graphics were provided by Past President Bill Camp.  Special kudos go out to Past President Mark Thomas, who worked tirelessly coordinating and organizing every aspect of this very successful event.  

Civic leaders have praised our Club for taking on this ambitious project, many have shown their appreciation in writing and verbal congratulations.  And each has promised to actively work with us again in years to come, to continue this wonderful event!

Appreciation for Appreciation!

Oakdale Police Chief Gary Hampton presents President Randy Basi a gift of appreciation -- for our successful Appreciation Dinner.  

Chief Hampton told our Club that our event has been the talk of law enforcement in Stanislaus County. "They really did that for you?"  Has been the comment heard by our police chief.  "Yes, they did."
